Butte Irish dropped a pair of games this weekend to the Helena Bighorns (19-2-0-0) despite the efforts of their goaltenders. Helena won a 3-1 decision on Friday in Butte then followed with a 6-3 win on home ice Saturday night.
Braylon Rogers stopped 64 of 66 shots (.970 save%) in the series opener keeping the Irish in the game for all 60 minutes. A second period goal by Kazden Stineff made it 2-1 at 3:14 but the Irish were unable to find the equalizer. Helena added an empty net goal in the final minute to clinch the victory.
Not to be outdone, Keegan Strong was also very good on Saturday making 59 saves (.908 save%). Stineff, Toby Kerr and Patrick Crooks scored for the Irish.
Next up for Butte is a road trip to Gillette to face the first place Wild.
