About us

Butte Irish Junior Hockey Club formed in 2014 as an expansion team to compete in the Western States Hockey League. Home games are played at the Butte Community Ice Center.

After three seasons in the WSHL the team, then owned and operated by the Butte Amateur Hockey Association, would join the North American 3 Hockey League after acquiring the NA3HL membership of the Glacier Nationals.

The team suspended operations before the 2017-18 season.

Butte Cobras made their NA3HL debut in 2018-19 on September 8 falling to the visiting Helena Bighorns in their first game.

Prior to the 2023-24 season Bill LaVelle took full ownership of the team, renaming the Cobras to Butte Irish.
