Badlands Sabres visited Butte this weekend and the Cobras dominated from opening puck drop taking all four points. Butte won the Friday opener 8-1 before shutting out the visitors 8-0 on Saturday.
Patrick Crooks led the offense on Friday scoring a hat trick. Luke Schleusner added a pair of goals and two helpers while Caleb Cross stopped 40 of 41 shots faced.
Tamer Billman and Weston Villers each chipped in with three assists on Friday as Butte would out shoot the Sabres 59-41.
Caleb Cross continued to be a brick wall in front of the Cobras net on Saturday as he went on to post a 25-save shutout. It was his 19th victory of the season while posting a 2.97 GAA and .935 save% which is currently second-best in the NA3HL.
Nick Bradshaw scored the hat trick on Saturday and now has 73 points in 45 games – sixth among NA3HL leaders.
Billman scored a pair of goals along with an assist while Carter Large scored once and added an assist. Jonathan O’Brien, Carson Streich and Tyler Tosch each chipped in with two helpers.
Schleusner contributed with five assists in the game to finish the weekend with nine points. His 63 points is now tied for 15th in league scoring.
Butte (24-19-1-1) will wrap up the regular season next weekend with a home-and-home series against the division leading Helena Bighorns (35-8-1-1) who are just one point in front of Gillette Wild.
