Cade Wessman is heading back to Lewiston, Maine this fall. After an impressive NA3HL rookie campaign which saw the 19-year old score 18 goals and 49 assists, Wessman was selected by the Maine Nordiques in the seventh round of the NAHL Draft.
After a four-year prep career at Osseo (Minnesota) High School, Wessman led the Cobras in scoring in 2021-22. His 76 points in the regular season was tied for eighth among all NA3HL scorers.
“We are extremely proud and happy for Cade Wessman being drafted into the NAHL,” commented coach Kirk Golden. “He is a high calibre player and a high character guy. The Maine Nordiques made a smart move by selecting the crafty playmaker.”
Wessman, along with his linemates Nick Bradshaw and Luke Schleusner, spent a week last January practicing with the Nordiques. Wessman played one game in Maine before heading back to Butte to play out the remainder of the season. As a draftee, Wessman will have a full training camp to impress the Nordiques staff in hopes of making the team permanent for 2022-23.
